Since beginning to represent injured workers before the District Director’s office in 1984, Mr. Huey has represented hundreds of injured workers. In 1985, he began representing injured workers from the OWCP through hearings before the Office of Administrative Law Judges in addition to prosecuting Jones Act and admiralty cases. He started a solo practice in 1987 and the majority of his practice continues in representing injured LHWCA claimants in addition to Jones Act and admiralty clients. Mr. Huey tried Hawthorne v. Ingalls Shipbuilding, Inc., 28 BRBS 73 (1994), 29 BRBS 103(1995), Armfield v. Shell Offshore, Inc., 25 BRBS 303 (1992), 30 BRBS 122 (1996), and, Bush v. I.T.O., BRB No. 94-843 (Feb. 25, 1997) (unpublished), 32 BRBS 213(1998). Mr. Huey has also presented a program at the Loyola Annual Longshore Conference about preparing §8 (i) petitions.

About Mr. Huey
Michael G. Huey graduated from the University of Florida in 1973 after earning a Bachelor of Arts. He subsequently began his maritime career when he worked from January 1974 to June 1981, as a dry cargo surveyor supervising barge loadings along the Ohio, Missouri, and the Mississippi Rivers. He also supervised barge to ocean vessels in New Orleans and rail to ocean vessels in Portland, Oregon. While attending the Tulane School of Law, he continued working as a surveyor supervising barge to ocean vessels in New Orleans before he graduated in 1984. Mr. Huey is admitted to the bar in Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. He is also a member in good standing in the Federal District Courts in Mississippi and Alabama along with the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.
